Valladolid knows that the greatest superpower resides in its citizens. With every small gesture, with every conscious decision, they contribute to fulfill a Mission that will mark the future: the decarbonization of the city.

Thus, Valladolid will deploy all its heroic weapons to give superpowers to each person, professional, community of owners and company. First, the superpower of awareness, which activates change. Then, the superpower of empowerment, which turns intention into action. And, as a good shield, constant support throughout the challenge.

The Valladolid City Council will organize training activities to help professionals face the new regulatory scenario. In addition, educational actions and public awareness campaigns will be promoted, so that no hero is left behind.

By sharing superpowers and learning, multilevel and transversal governance will be strengthened, and spaces for participation and co-creation will be opened to design, together, more effective solutions. Alliances will be created with other cities, weaving a network of urban heroes committed to the same goal.

Among the most important achievements of this mission is the creation of a strategic guide to develop proximity offices, authentic operational bases where citizens who want to rehabilitate their homes will find support, advice and accompaniment throughout their transformative journey.

Thanks to this project, Valladolid not only advances in the decarbonization of its buildings, but also turns each citizen into a hero who builds a more sustainable, fair and livable future for all.

7 Spanish cities

Seven Spanish cities have decided to act in response to the growing threat of climate change. Thus was born URBANEW, a mission driven by the Mission Cities to transform urban environments by rehabilitating what has already been built, reducing emissions and generating a new way of living in cities.

To make this possible, a network of Super-Technicians, professionals with extraordinary skills in sustainability, regeneration and energy efficiency, joined forces to shape replicable, high-impact solutions.

Today this movement is growing in Europe and beyond, and the legacy that the seven cities started continues.
