The city of Barcelona has completed the feasibility study for the creation of a public-private partnership model for the purchase and rehabilitation of housing for affordable homes.
Once this preliminary work has been completed, it is planned to share the conclusions with potential private partners.
Recently the Barcelona City Council has delivered 40 social rental apartments in the neighborhood of La Verneda i la Pau.
The social rental apartment development at Carrer de Lola Iturbe, 13, is the last of four industrialized public housing buildings constructed in Sant Martí, for a total of 151 new apartments in the district. These buildings are designed to reduce environmental impact, adapt to climate change and shorten construction times.
The new building, where 40 families will live under a social rental scheme, consists of a ground floor and eight more floors of housing, with a green roof with plants and small trees and a greenhouse with 45 photovoltaic panels to generate energy and plant crops. The first floor will be used as a municipal facility.
