Valencia starts collaboration with the project 'Creant Barris'.
On April 1, the city of Valencia was the meeting point for the working sessions between the cities participating in the Urbanew project and the twincities (Twinning cities) of Soria (Spain) and Cologne (Germany), within the framework of the Twinning Learning Program.
This highly strategic visit made it possible to make progress on concrete proposals for the replicability of solutions and pilot projects focused on the energy rehabilitation of buildings and the decarbonization of urban environments. Both lines of work are fundamental pillars in the roadmap of the Spanish mission cities, which are leading processes of sustainable urban transformation: Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Valladolid, Valencia, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zaragoza.
During the event, representatives from the cities of Soria and Cologne had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the experiences and lessons learned from the interventions developed by the host cities, exchange best practices and strengthen international collaboration ties with the aim of scaling and adapting these solutions to their own local contexts.
A busy start to the year
The Urbanew project in Valencia has had a busy start to the year. A collaboration with the project 'Creant Barris' has been initiated to collect the sensitivity of citizens regarding the built environment. The first face-to-face session took place in the municipality of Burjassot on January 30, with a review of the environment from a gender perspective.
But this has not been the only collaboration initiated in recent months, as work has recently begun with the European Eucinco project to provide content for the sustainable rehabilitation guide and a contract has been signed for the publication of the guide by an external company.
A contract has also been signed to translate the Climate-KIC participatory toolkit into Spanish.
Finally, in February, the rehabilitation course given by Cesefor ended with the last classroom session, held on February 12.
